Discretion is usually advertised and rarely defined. In practice it is a set of concrete data practices, and they are easy to assess if you know what to look for.
What an agency genuinely needs
Three things: a name to greet you by, a location, and a contact number to confirm the booking. That is the complete list. Anything beyond it is being collected for a reason that is not your benefit.
You are not obliged to provide a full legal name, an employer, an email address you use for anything else, or identification. An operator insisting on those for a standard booking is behaving unusually.
What should happen afterwards
Nothing. No marketing messages, no follow-up offers, no addition to a list. If you find yourself receiving promotional messages you did not ask for, that tells you the operation treats client data as an asset to be used rather than information to be minimised.
The clearest test
Ask what they keep and for how long. A professional operator has an answer. An evasive response to a direct question about data retention is informative.
Protecting yourself
Use a messaging app rather than SMS where you can. Use a first name only. Pay in cash if a card statement would be awkward, or ask what descriptor appears if you pay by card — established agencies bill under a neutral name and will tell you.
Photographs and recordings
Never photograph or record a companion without explicit agreement. This is the most serious breach of trust in the industry, it is a criminal matter in Greece, and it ends the booking immediately. The same protection runs the other way — a professional companion does not photograph clients or premises.
Reviews and forums
If you post about a booking, do not include identifying detail about the companion beyond what she publishes herself. Real names, personal circumstances or addresses are not yours to share, and doing so causes genuine harm.
If your data is mishandled
Greek and EU data protection law applies to these businesses as it does to any other. You have the right to ask what is held about you and to have it deleted, and reputable operators will comply without argument.
