Booking a Companion in Santorini
Santorini has a smaller companionship market than Mykonos and a considerably more difficult geography. Both facts shape how booking works.
A thinner market
Santorini attracts a couples-and-honeymoon crowd rather than the party demographic that fills Mykonos, and the companionship market is correspondingly smaller. Fewer companions work the island, and most travel over from Athens for specific bookings rather than basing themselves there for the season.
The practical consequence is that advance booking is not advice, it is a requirement. Same-day arrangements on Santorini frequently are not possible at any price.
The geography problem
The island is long, the caldera-side villages are built into a cliff, and much of Oia and Fira is reachable only on foot down stepped paths. A companion arriving at a caldera-side villa may have a fifteen-minute walk from the nearest vehicle access, in the dark, carrying a bag.
Tell her what the access is
This is the single most useful thing you can do. Say which village, how many steps, and whether there is vehicle access. It affects footwear, timing and whether the booking is practical at all.
Where people stay
Oia and Imerovigli for the views and the highest prices, Fira for the centre and nightlife, and the eastern beach areas of Kamari and Perissa for easier access and lower cost. The eastern side is far simpler logistically.
Costs
Expect Santorini rates at or above Mykonos, largely because most bookings involve travel from Athens by ferry or flight. That travel cost is real and is reflected in the rate, particularly for shorter bookings which is why longer formats are more common here.
Timing
The season runs May to October with a July-August peak. Sunset in Oia dominates the evening schedule of the entire island — restaurants and roads are chaotic for the hour around it, which is worth planning around rather than into.
